May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month and we will be holding our Power Up Against DIPG Virtual Silent Auction May 10th through the 18th!
Did you know that brain cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children in the U.S.? While some brain tumors can be surgically removed, others, like Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), are inoperable and remain incurable. Approximately 300 children are diagnosed with DIPG each year. The average survival time from diagnosis is just 9-12 months.
Childhood cancer research is incredibly underfunded. Only 4% of the federal cancer research budget is dedicated to ALL childhood cancers. Less than .05% of those dollars go to DIPG research, despite its poor prognosis.
These children need our help. Princess Hailey was diagnosed in April 2020, and she was able to double her life expectancy thanks to research funded by foundations and the two experimental clinical trials she participated in. While those extra months don't seem like much, they were everything to Hailey and our family, and allowed us to make memories we will always treasure.
Let's come together, virtually, and help kids like Hailey by bidding on awesome items donated by generous community members and businesses. Proceeds from this online event will fund our Hope from Hailey program. Every dollar raised represents HOPE for a cure for affected children and their families.
